SUPPORT THE MOTT PEDIATRIC EPILEPSY PROGRAM

Epilepsy is the most common childhood neurologic condition in the United States, and roughly 1 in 26 people will develop the condition in their lifetimes.

There are many causes for the disease — ranging from genetic and metabolic conditions to infections, trauma, and developmental brain disorders. Unfortunately for many children with epilepsy, determining what triggers sudden and dangerous seizures can be challenging. Worse yet, approximately one-third of those with epilepsy continue to have seizures that are difficult to control.

Michigan Medicine is focused on advancing science and care to bring answers and relief to people with epilepsy. We are well-positioned to accelerate research, drive discoveries, and improve treatments that can make a difference for families all over the world.

JOIN THE CAUSE

Join us in supporting the children and families affected by this disease. November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month and our Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program at University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital has launched a campaign to grow our clinical and research efforts and provide the resources families need to find greater hope and healing.

MAKING AN IMPACT

No matter the size of your contribution, you can make a difference:

  • $10 can purchase the books or playing cards our health care team will use to evaluate the behavior of a child with epilepsy.
  • $25 would cover communication and educational materials given to families. These include new patient folders, epilepsy surgery information packets, birthday cards, and more.
  • $50 can provide a new family with a ketogenic diet starter kit that can help to better control their child’s seizures.
  • $100 can supply equipment, like musical keyboards and stationary bikes, that Michigan Medicine physicians need to evaluate behavioral changes in children with seizures.
  • $250 could support educational training and opportunities for epilepsy physicians and staff, helping them to continue making progress in epilepsy care.
  • $500 will help to advance crucial research that can lead to better treatments, improved outcomes, and more hope for young epilepsy patients.

CREATING NEW HOPE FOR FAMILIES WITH EPILEPSY

The support of generous donors helps us improve and save lives. Your contributions can grow and build new programs, advance groundbreaking ideas, and provide families with the comfort and resources they need to share a brighter future with their child. We hope you will join our cause.
