Epilepsy is one of the most common and serious neurologic conditions among children, with roughly 450,000 cases in American children under 17 years old. This devastating disorder is characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
The severity, frequency, and types of seizures can vary widely among individuals, with symptoms that include convulsions, sensory disturbances, and loss of consciousness.
The Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program at University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is a leader in advancing knowledge, treatments, and care for children with epilepsy. We invite you to join us.
Calming the Storm for the Little Epilepsy Victors
November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. During this time, our Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program is raising much-needed funding and awareness through our Calming the Storm for the Little Epilepsy Victors campaign.
Proceeds from this campaign will benefit clinical services, basic and clinical research, patient and family education efforts, and family support programs.
Your involvement will help the Mott Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program advance their work to provide children with individualized treatments while also developing the next generation of therapies and providers through innovation, research, and training. Read Madison's story.
